Ramadan on Our Campus

Through the leadership of Imam Amir Duric, over 500 guests attended three Ramadan dinners on campus the first three nights of Ramadan, May 6, 7 and 8. Particularly meaningful was the Iftar on the Quad on May 8, as it was a historic moment for Muslim students of Syracuse University. It gathered over 200 students, faculty, staff, and community members who had an opportunity to hear Qur’anic verses, and reflections about fasting and Ramadan. They altogether experienced the moment of breaking the fast (Iftar) with a date and water, and shared the meal afterwards.

Muslim Student Life Annual Fundraising Dinner

On May 3, MSL had their Annual Fundraising Dinner where they celebrated the accomplishments over the 2018/19 academic year. Students shared how meaningful and important for them is to have a stable chaplaincy and a chaplain who will accompany them on one of the most important life journeys. That said, 2019 Tanweerul Haq Excellence Award was introduced and presented to the founder of Muslim Student Life, Tanweerul Haq, who exemplified a selfless service to the students. From now on, one person who follows his footsteps in service to students will be recognized every year.
