Policies

As the heart of Syracuse University, our mission as Hendricks Chapel is to lead in service to our common good as a student-centered global home for religious, spiritual, moral and ethical life. Our primary goal in hosting events, programs and services within Hendricks Chapel is to advance our mission in partnership with a diverse assembly of campus and community partners. We believe that programs, services and events held in Hendricks Chapel must reflect our mission, vision and values in order to serve as an expression of our historical identity.

As stewards of a sacred space that is primarily utilized for religious and spiritual practices among students of Syracuse University, Hendricks Chapel reserves the right to cancel and/or fine parties that are found in violation of its policies.

Chapel Use

The following behaviors may result in a fine from Hendricks Chapel:

  • If you remain in the chapel for longer than your reservation allows
  • If you damage chapel property
  • If the event coordinator deems any room to be a significant mess

Alcohol and Drugs

Personal use of alcohol or recreational drugs is strictly prohibited in Hendricks Chapel and on Syracuse University’s campus. This includes during the rehearsal and throughout the entirety of the time the chapel is reserved for the wedding. Additionally, in accordance with Syracuse University policy, open containers of alcohol are prohibited on campus.
