Wedding Photo

When we first got engaged getting married at Hendricks Chapel was very important to us and the very first decision we made! As proud alumni of Syracuse University, Hendricks Chapel in the center of the quad represented the place where we first met and held wonderful memories for not just us, but also many of our friends and family. Hendricks Chapel and the wonderful team there provided the perfect setting for our big day!

Making a Reservation

In order to provide each couple and their guests a quality experience, wedding reservations are accepted only for dates during the summer months.  The summer time period begins Memorial Day weekend and concludes one week prior to orientation for the fall semester (middle of August).

Occasionally, unforeseen events or activities that we are not aware of occur in the spaces surrounding the Chapel.  We will try to schedule your wedding free of conflicts with major SU events.  Please be advised to the possibility an event could be scheduled, without notice to Hendricks Chapel staff, which involves some conflicts with the quad, traffic, parking, or noise (such as an event in the Carrier Dome).

In order to schedule a wedding in the Chapel you must contact the wedding administrator, Elizabeth Cronk (eacronk@syr.edu OR 315-443-2902) to:

  • verify your eligibility
  • check available dates (weddings are scheduled ONLY from Memorial Day weekend through the middle of August).
  • make a reservation for your wedding (1 hour set-up; 1 hour ceremony, 1 hour pictures, receiving line, etc.) and rehearsal (held the night before, 1 hour). Your rehearsal time must be scheduled when you reserve the Chapel for your wedding.

Once your reservation has been made, the wedding administrator will be processing your “wedding packet” which will be mailed to you to be completed and returned to Hendricks Chapel no later than two months from the date of your actual reservation.  The following will be included in your “wedding packet”:

  •  “Hendricks Chapel Wedding Reservation” form.  Please complete all the information on your reservation form.  If you do not know your photographer and/or florist, please let me know “to be determined” on the paperwork and you can contact me at a later date once you know the exact information.  Signatures of both spouses and officiating chaplain/public official must be on the form before you send it into Hendricks Chapel.  Your signatures verify that you have read and agreed to all policies as set forth by Hendricks Chapel. Full payment is due (including $150.00 security deposit which is returnable once the wedding has taken place and all policies and procedures have been met).  Please make check payable to “Syracuse University” and mail both the “Hendricks Chapel Wedding Reservation” form and (if applicable) the “Request for Guest Chaplain/Public Official” form to:

Please note: Any changes in the time of your rehearsal or wedding must be approved by the wedding administrator.  If your address or phone number change, please report that to the wedding administrator immediately.

  • “Request for Guest Chaplain/Public Official” form (if applicable).  This form only needs to be returned if you are using a guest chaplain/public official.   See Clergy and Officiants* below:

*CLERGY AND OFFICIANTS:  The University Chaplains retain the right to accept or decline officiating at marriages based his/her availability or on their assessment of the integrity of the relationship as it stands in connection to their particular faith tradition.   All remuneration for the officiant’s services should be negotiated directly with the resident chaplain, guest clergy person, or Justice of the Peace.  Hendricks Chapel does not make payment to officiants.

YOUR WEDDING IS NOT CONFIRMED UNTIL YOUR OFFICIANT (resident chaplain, visiting clergy, or Justice of the Peace) HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE DEAN OF HENDRICKS CHAPEL.
