PEER MINISTRY at LCM

The Peer Ministry program of Lutheran Campus Ministry at Syracuse University (LCM) is a vital part of our faith community. Peer ministers are students from SU and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry who devote a portion of their time working as coordinators of programmed activities for LCM for an academic year. The peer ministers help LCM realize its mission as an open community of worship, growth, and support. (continued at bottom)

Since the program's inception, teams of student leaders have played a key role in the success of this ministry. The peer ministers meet weekly with their advisor to continue to refine the vision for the LCM community in the larger university environment.

The peer minister's role is to organize and delegate tasks and leadership responsibilities to other students in an effort to help other students to fully use their gifts and talents. After their year of service is completed, many peer ministers take on specific leadership roles in LCM and in the larger life of SU's Hendricks Chapel.

As individuals, peer ministers grow in faith and in their ability to serve others. They expand their leadership abilities and develop better personal organizational skills. Peer ministry models team work and nurtures personal faith within our community that shines through to the other students. Peer ministry helps LCM provide a fun, safe, and educational environment shaped by our faith in Jesus Christ.
