North Side Community Computer Lab
In the fall of 2002 students from Lutheran Campus Ministry created a computer lab in First English Lutheran Church in downtown Syracuse.
North Side Community Computer Lab has continued to be fully funded through donation, full staffed by SU students, and fully committed to improving the knowledge of the Syracuse community.
Saturday mornings the lab offers free computer instruction to members of the community wishing to learn basic computing skills or improve on existing ones.
Students of the lab come to improve their abilities in the workforce, explore a technical world they have only heard about, or learn how to e-mail and communicate online with friends and family.
LCM has won several awards for their vision and dedication to improving the community and thanks First English Lutheran Church for their initial vision and efforts to fund the lab through grants and donations from other organizations and the community.
NSCCL is always looking for more help and is eager to expand the services they offer.
Techies: If you have some technical knowledge and are looking to work on computers, interact with or give back to the community, or just inquire about where your skills fit in please contact us.
Non-Techies: If you don't consider yourself a technical person but you enjoy; working with people, teaching, helping others, getting off campus once in a while to do something useful... we have plenty for you to do too.
NSCCL may be a computer lab but technical skills are half or less of what we need.
Help is needed in the following areas:
- Teaching (If you can use MS Word you are qualified)
- Computer upkeep and repair
- Teaching Assistant
- Webpage development
- Fundraising
- Public Relations
