The Hendricks Chapel Choir embarks on an international tour every four years so that each member of the choir has the opportunity to tour internationally during their time at the University.
2005, May 16 to 30 - Hendricks Chapel Choir
The Hendricks Chapel Choir embarked on a two-week musical tour of China May 16 - 30, 2005. The 47-member choir performed its concert, An American Sampler, at venues in Beijing (two concerts), Xian, and Guilin (two concerts). The China tour was part of Hendricks Chapel’s 75th anniversary celebration.
2009, May 11 to 24 - Hendricks Chapel Choir
The Hendricks Chapel Choir embarked on a two-week, three-country musical and culture tour of South America on Monday, May 11. The 41-member choir, ranging from first-year students to graduate students, performed a program of American choral music and South American pieces at venues in Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.
The choir performed under the direction of John F. Warren, director of choral activities in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) and the choir’s conductor. The choir was accompanied by Kola Owolabi, assistant professor in VPA and University organist, and on percussion by Joshua Dekaney, affiliate artist in VPA.
